I am happy to report that my IR-3 tabletop roaster is up and running perfectly. I am getting incredibly consistent roasts even with notoriously uneven coffees such as Ethiopian Harrar.

The roaster is quite user friendly and, as such, the roast profiles have been easy to dial in and adjust when needed.

I was hesitant to switch from the Ambex roasters we have previously used to the Diedrich IR series roaster we're using now, but the results have been fantastic! Hey- I called in and ordered the grease and some mugs (while I was at it).

I meant to pass on a compliment or two. One- I've stopped roasting on my L5 Probat in the shop because I've gotten used to the Diedrich enough to do 12.5# loads. No one has said anything except the coffee is wonderful. Second- Once a year I have a chimney sweep check my stack from the CO. He said it's so clean he wonders if I even use it. I run it pretty much as Steve recommended. So there you are, I'm being more clean and efficient thanx to the Diedrich equipment I own!

I wanted to share a little bit about the experience I have had working with Diedrich.

Diedrich Manufacturing is so much more than just a manufacturer. Over the years I have had the privilege of craft roasting on countless Diedrich roasters and each model has been a pleasure to work with. But the truly great thing about Diedrich is their dedication to the success of their customers.

We have experienced great success as a wholesale roaster, starting with a 20 kilo Diedrich in 1992 and migrating up to our current roasters, a 120k and 240k Diedrich. As any quickly growing company can attest to, with success come growing pains. Staffing, quality control, accounting can all meet challenges as systems and practices evolve. However, the most important part of our business, the roasting has avoided many of these challenges due to the service, support, and true craftsmanship of Diedrich Manufacturing.

Any roasting professional will tell you that challenges with roasting machinery are bound to happen, after all you essentially have a machine that is trying to burn itself down for 8 to 10 hours a day. What separates a manufacturer from a partner is the ability of the roaster manufacturer to provide support when you do encounter challenges. Diedrich has always been there for us in those situations. If I were to try to list the instances when the individuals at Diedrich have gone out of their way to meet my needs the list would go on for pages. From running out to catch the UPS truck in order to overnight a thermo-couple, to driving through the night to provide technical support they have always pulled through when I needed assistance.

Diedrich works constantly to maintain their position as one of the worlds elite roaster manufacturers. Their ability to listen to customer feedback and quickly transition that into their constantly improving machines is truly impressive. Over the years I have seen as they take age old traditions of roasting and wed them seamlessly with technological advancements to produce machines that are unparalleled in their craft roasting capabilities and yet have no ceiling as to the empirical data gathering systems. This combination of the art and the science gives the roaster operator every necessary tool to create a coffee of the highest quality on an absolutely consistent basis.
